Meet Reed – A Survivor of the Hills

For over a year, neighbors in the Bitterroot Valley caught glimpses of a wandering white dog, drifting through the hills with no known home. No one ever came forward to claim him, and the community began to believe he had been abandoned. Caring neighbors put food and water out, hoping to ease his lonely journey.

Recently, Reed finally wandered onto the property of a kind neighbor who was able to gently secure him in her dog run. She immediately called Ellen, who rushed over with the chip scanner. After scanning his entire body, it was just as we suspected—no microchip.

Reed’s condition tells the story of a dog left behind. He is covered in painful mats and stickers, losing patches of fur, suffering from an untreated eye condition, and still intact. Despite everything, he allowed himself to be helped.

Reed is not available for adoption just yet as we want to ensure all of his medical needs are taken care of, but we are accepting applications for him!
